The 2012 Florida Retail Masters Class kicked off this year in Tallahassee
This is the first year that the Tallahassee session opened the six month program because of the early meeting of the Florida Legislature. During the three day Retail Masters program, participants will have the opportunity to meet with leaders from Florida’s Executive and Legislative branches, meet with FRF’s Board of Directors and gain an understanding of how the political and legislative process effects retailing.
In Jacksonville, a key focus of the session is military’s impact on the state and on retailing. Retail Masters have the opportunity to learn about Florida’s military population from a variety of perspectives – employer, co-worker, customer, neighbor, etc. Jacksonville’s Retail Road Trip has often featured tours of the Mayport Naval Base and some classes have even had the rare opportunity to tour a nuclear submarine. It is at this session, that Retailers recognize that one commonality they have with the military leaders they interact with is that both groups manage a similar demographic of employees and there are key take-a-ways from the experience related to leadership, management, recruitment and retention.
